CLEVELAND, Ohio – A gun will kill one out of every 108 people in the U.S., and one in 66 will die of a drug overdose if current death rates hold throughout a lifetime, a Cleveland researcher found in a new study.

The risk of dying of a drug overdose is much higher in Ohio, where one in 39 people will die of an overdose over an 85-year lifetime, according to the study by MetroHealth physician and Case Western Reserve University professor Dr. Ashwini Sehgal. One out of every 101 people in Ohio will die of a gunshot. Those statistics include both homicides and suicides.
