As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on all of our lives, it has become clear that the impact of the pandemic has not been felt equally. It’s an understatement to say that the past 14 months have been the most challenging for many people in our lifetimes. The added stress and extreme isolation, combined with financial and job losses, have led even more people in Hamilton County to addiction or worsen the addiction in those who may be predisposed.
The opioid epidemic rages on as we are socially distanced and increasingly isolated. Recent provisional data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention listed May 2020 as having the highest number of overdose deaths in a 12-month period ever recorded.
