Quick Response Team in Middletown helps hundreds of OD patients find local resources

As the opioid epidemic continues to impact families and individuals across the state of Ohio, communities are working to find different ways to help combat addition in their areas.

The City of Middletown and community partners including Atrium Medical Center to launch a Quick Response Team, which has already helped about 500 people who have overdosed get connected to local resources to help fight their addiction.

Now, thanks to a grant from the InterAct for Change and the Funders' Response to the Heroin Epidemic, the operations will be funded through 2020. The $60,000 grant will allow the team, which consists of a paramedic, police officer and social worker, to continue their efforts.

Officials said that opioid usage in the city has dropped by almost 45 percent.
