UT economic impact report says each opioid overdose death costs over $8 million

TOLEDO, Ohio — A new study by The University of Toledo (UT) is showing the local economic impact of the opioid epidemic.
Each overdose death costs the region $8.67 million.
Officials hope that by specifying a dollar amount the local economy is seeing, people who don't think they are affected by the epidemic will take a closer look at how this is affecting the entire community.
